This agreement has been extended, thanks to which fee-free roaming in the European Union will be possible until 2032, but it is worth noting that the new agreement introduces some changes to the operation of roaming in other countries.
Until now, the European Union has legally regulated that mobile network operators must provide mobile networks of the same quality in all countries. For example, if the network provides 5G in a specific user's home network, it should be able to provide a 5G connection also in other European Union countries, if the infrastructure allows it. Such a provision in the contract was prolonged. From now on, however, operators will be obliged to send a text message to users, in which not only information about emergency numbers in a given country will be provided, but also information about the available Internet speeds. If it is impossible to use the default emergency number 112, the operator will be required to provide an alternative method of using the emergency number, such as free text messaging or using dedicated app. In addition, the prices of packages for the use of mobile data in the European Union will also continue to be controlled.
