At the beginning of last year, Microsoft announced that the company would buy all the shares of Activision Blizzard. The transaction was valued at over 68 billion of dollars. So far, however, it has not been finalized. One of the reasons for blocking the transaction so far was the reaction of the US Federal Trade Commission, and now another problem has appeared before the Microsoft authorities, because the transaction was blocked by the European Union.
On behalf of the European Union, the antitrust commission reacted in this case. The European Union has considerable concerns about the finalization of the transaction, which would negatively affect competition on the computer games market, and for this reason a list of reasons why the transaction should not take place has been prepared. However, Microsoft is working with the European Commission to resolve the matter. The European Union wants the final decision on the sale of Activision Blizzard to be made by 11th of April.
